Ser Jorah Mormont: Lessons in Love and Work
If you have followed the series closely, you should know who Ser Jorah Mormont was. And if you have to ask who he was and what series I am referring to, just skip down and read the next paragraph for a brief bio.
Ser Jorah Mormont was a loyal, honorable man, and a great warrior. His mission was to protect Daenerys, heir to the iron throne. But something happened. Ser Jorah fell in love with Daenerys. It’s not as dramatic as I typed. He was cool about it and didn’t say anything for a while. She had other lovers. When he finally did, she turned him down. She didn’t see him that way. And she never did
Later she banished him because he admitted he had betrayed her. His initial mission was to spy on her. He lied about this.
In exile, he proved himself and showed he was loyal to her. He was reinstated to his former position as an advisor and protector, where he served until he died.
#GOT fans, especially on Twitter, remember Ser Jorah as the friend-zoned man as though the unreciprocated love somehow diminished him.
I remember him as the man who died doing what he knows best. Fighting and protecting his queen and for that, he was fulfilled.
